Kevin and Ursula Eat Cheap
Episode 16 - "Lutheran Indian Fusion Cuisine"

It's the day after Christmas, and we're snowed in. That would normally mean French Toast, but not in our house! No! A little Duplin County Magnolia Blush Wine, a bottle of Magic Hat No. 9, and cheap food! This week, we're digging into the pantry, and coming up with Banquet Chicken Pot Pie, Kraft Stove Top Stuffing Mix, a SWAD Navaratan Korma, and a Macaroni Grill Creamy Basil Parmagane Chicken and Pasta. Just another Sunday in our kitchen, where we eat it so you don't have to.

Episode 15 - "We have conjoined Buns"

Two rants for the price of one podcast! This week, we walked down the frozen food aisle and found Skyline Chili Spaghetti, Hot Pockets Sideshots Cheeseburgers, and Jose Ole Mini Tacos. Add into that one of Kevin's lunch picks, Pacific Natural Food's Organic Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup, then a decadant finish with Bel Gioioso Tiramisu Marscapone. We paired it all with Rex-Goliath Chardonnay (because, hey, cheap food deserves inexpensive wine), fed the beagle, and reported art thieves.

Excitement abounds (no, not really) in our kitchen, and we eat it so you don't have to.

Episode 14: Burrito Bonanza!

Listener Amy suggested we take a look at Frozen Burritos, and since we're always out to please the listener, we'll sacrifice our innards to JUST FOR YOU. The lineup includes an El Monteray Bean and Beef Burrito,  a Jose Ole Chicken & Cheese Chimichanga, an Amy's Southwestern Burrito, and an Evol Chicken, Bean, and Rice Burrito. We'll also discuss our continuing exploration of the Hamburger Helper line of foods (this time with Hamburger Helper Cheeseburger Macaroni) and the InnovAsian Sweet & Sour Chicken

We pair all of these with a Pink Truck Pink Wine (Ursula), and a Hobgoblin Dark English Ale (Kevin).

Along the way we'll also discuss children's eating habits, the practical problems with having a back out, sweet potatoes, sacred hearts, Op-Art, and making mexican food, all with the ever-present beagle and cats.

Remember - we eat it, so you don't have to.

Episode 13 - 'My Tongue is Screaming 'Why are you doing this to me?'"

This week, not only are we eating, but we're drinking! We're having glasses of Ravenswood Cabernet Sauvignon while attempting to enjoy this week's selections. We've been to the local Asian Market, and came back with some Swad Khadi Pakodi MicroCurry and a mystery bowl of Thai Oriental Flavor Instant Noodles. We also take the time to try out World Classics Trading Company Artichoke and Spinach Purses, discuss the happy accident making Bertolli's meals this week, our experiences with Hamburger Helper Beef Stroganoff, convert 320cc to something we can have measuring cups for, and discuss Kevin's bowels. Not for the weak of heart or weak of stomach, once again we eat it so you don't have to, and get somewhat tipsy along the way.

Episode 12 - "Roving Bands of Naked Itinerant Irish"

This week we dive into the depths of a Big Lot's and find some real cheap eats. And by cheap, we have stuff for under $2 this week. On the extremely cheap side, we have Hangburger Helper Microwave Singles Cheeseburger Macaroni, followed by Taco Bell Santa Fe Style Beef Bowlz, and finally a NutraSystems Hearty Beef Stew. A grand total of $6 was spent on that part of the review. We also sample Annie Chun's Sesame Seaweed Snacks, Oregon Chai concentrate, and re-visit two past favorites. Along the way, we talk head cheese, read some listener emails, and get a rant on potatoes.

Just another weekend in our kitchen, where we eat it so you don't have to.

Episode 10 - "Possibly the Soybeans were Circumcised"

This week, we have an interesting mix, starting with Wanchai Ferry. We then give Seeds of Change Caribbean Red Rice it's chance to wow us, both with and without Bragg's Liquid Aminos. Following that, we have Dr. Praeger's Sweet Potato Pancakes (spoiler : Find and Try These), and finally Thai Kitchen Spicy Thai Basil. In between, we talk cats, blimps, soy sauce, and grocery stores.

Remember, we eat it, so you don't have to - although this week, there is something you HAVE to eat (I realize this is a rarity).

Featured in the picture for this episode is Marv the Cat, rescued in 2007. Also shown is a plush Herpes from Giant Microbes.

Episode 8 - "It burns when I pee"

This week, it's Kimchee, MRE, and Pad Thai. Ok, the last bit didn't rhyme. Also, there's meatloaf. We open a mystery box from a friend to find a whole stack of MREs, and so we give the Escalloped Potatoes and Ham (Thermostabilized) a try. After that, it's Dr. McDougail's Pad Thai Noodle Soup, a chitchat about Jennie-O Turkey Meatloaf, and we wrap with Annie Chun's Kimchi Soup Bowl. We eat it so you don't have to - unless you're in the U.S. Military, in which case, well, you have to for at least one of this week's selections. Sorry about that.
